Sales Training Program The Sales Training Program prepares you for a successful career in business-to-business sales. This award-winning program empowers you to grow your sales skills with on-the-job training and industry exposure.

How it works

Accelerated Training

An extensive eight-week sales training program taking place at our headquarters in northwest Georgia prepares associates for a successful sales career supporting our residential or commercial business.

Firsthand Experience

Following training, associates transition into a field apprenticeship in a geographic market within the US and apply what they learned with the support of other successful sales leaders. Here, they get to learn best practices while gaining hands-on, on-the-job training.

Real World Outcomes

At the end of their apprenticeship, sales training graduates are placed into one of our sales locations throughout the US as a territory manager.

Take the leap. That’s the advice Builder Territory Manager Kirstin would give her younger self, a fresh college graduate with an English degree considering a career in sales. With no experience, Kirstin joined Shaw’s Sales Management Training program and found a team ready to prepare and equip her for the role of territory manager. She is now a state-level manager with responsibility for all builder sales throughout Tennessee.

After two marketing internships with Shaw, Garret knew it was the place for him – and the sales training program was his opportunity for a head start. While Shaw’s environment of growth and innovation keeps him excited about his and the company’s future, he most admires the community that Shaw has forged which makes him feel valued and supported. During a career transition, he even lived in the Shaw Living Lab, one of the cutting-edge housing options available for trainees that is also used to test products. Today, Garret has returned to lead the training program where he began. His advice for those getting started? Stay curious. He attributes much of his success to finding mentors in departments across the company.  — Garrett Hicks Residential Sales Training Manager

Family has always been the most important thing to Josh. In fact, he knew from a young age that he would follow in his father’s footsteps with a career in professional sales. This goal led him to his university’s sales program. After dozens of interviews with prospective employers, he chose Shaw for their shared values in family. Shaw worked with him to accommodate his family’s needs where other companies would not and managers have helped lead his career path back to his New England home where he is now Territory Manager for Shaw Sports Turf.

While still pursuing his bachelor's degree, John began the job hunt to launch his career in sales. During his journey, he found Shaw and was struck by the company’s numerous accolades, including its inclusion on Selling Power’s 50 Best Places to Sell For list for more than 15 years. John was unfamiliar with the flooring industry, but he knew he loved sales, and he also knew he wanted to sell for the best, so he took the leap and began Shaw’s sales training program immediately following his graduation. The training program armed him with the sales techniques and knowledge to help him better serve his customers and grow in his career. Now, several years later, John can’t get enough of Shaw or the flooring industry.
